Why now

At $494 per person round trip, this nonstop is $91 below the typical fare on this route. That's 16% under the $585 median of our 14 earlier checks, and it's the lowest fare we've seen in 30 days. Across the 12 offers we checked, fares ran from $494 to $697. Late October falls after the hot, crowded July–August stretch and the August–September hurricane peak. The forecast shows highs of 75–85°F, with rain chances of 7–17%, which is good weather for beach walks and golf without the summer heat. The outbound leaves DCA at 5:51 PM on Friday and lands at 7:30 PM, so you can put in a full workday and still be at the coast for dinner. For two people, the flights, the best-value hotel and $360 of spending money come to $1,572. That's the all-in price when we checked, and it can change.

The kind of trip this is

This is an easy beach weekend: sixty miles of Atlantic sand, resorts, golf and boardwalk fun on the Grand Strand. It works well for a couple who wants a low-effort reset, for friends who want golf by day and bars by night, or for a family who likes mini-golf and the SkyWheel. Keep the pace slow, with ocean mornings and an evening at the shows.
