Accessibility statement

Last updated:

The binding version of this page is the English one below.

We want everyone to be able to use the VacayMatch website and WhatsApp assistant, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or voice. This statement says what we did, what we know is still missing, and how to reach us.

Our standard

The website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. It is checked with a keyboard, with screen readers (VoiceOver and NVDA) and with automated tools, in light and dark mode, on phone and desktop, in the five languages it is published in (the Hebrew edition right to left).

What we did on the website

  • Semantic HTML: landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), one heading per level, lists and tables for what they are, breadcrumbs, and a skip link to the content.
  • Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus ring on every link and control.
  • Contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for large text and controls, in both light and dark mode.
  • Text sizes in relative units, so the browser's zoom and font settings apply, and a layout that works at 320 px wide and at 200% zoom.
  • Motion is reduced when the system asks for reduced motion; nothing moves or plays by itself.
  • Every photo has alternative text and a visible credit; prices and dates are plain text, never images.
  • Every page works without scripts: the picks, the forms, the polls, the language switcher and the newsletter all have a plain HTML path. One small script adds conveniences (live updates, the share sheet, copy buttons) when it is allowed to run.
  • Each page declares its language and direction, and the parts that stay in English on a translated page are marked as English so a screen reader switches voice.

The WhatsApp assistant

VacayMatch answers inside WhatsApp, so it works with your phone's screen reader and display settings through WhatsApp's own accessibility features. You can send voice notes instead of typing; they are transcribed and answered in text. Messages are short, in plain English or Spanish, with prices as numbers and a clear next step.

Known limitations

  • Share images (the cards made for social networks) repeat the numbers of the page; nothing depends on reading the image.
  • Booking happens on third-party sites (airlines, hotels, booking sites) whose accessibility we do not control.
  • Fonts load from Google Fonts; if they are blocked the page falls back to the system fonts without losing content.
  • The editorial text of a trip page is translated after the page is published; until then it reads in English under the translated chrome, and the legal pages are in English on every edition.

Feedback

If something on the site or in the assistant does not work for you, tell us and we will fix it or offer the information another way: email hello@vacaymatch.co, or write to VacayMatch on WhatsApp at +1 (302) 662-3415. We answer within a few business days.
