We'd stay in Banff townsite, the walkable base with the most hotels, the most restaurants and the Bow River trails. All three of our picks are in Banff, and all three offer free cancellation. Elk + Avenue Hotel is the best value at $892 for the 5 nights ($178 a night). It's rated 8.4 from 428 reviews and is room only, with a $111 property fee that's already in our total.
