Whale season doesn't start until December, though, so this week is for beaches and food. We'd keep an eye on this fare and wait for better connections.

All three hotels are in Cabo San Lucas, close to Cabo San Lucas (Marina and Médano Beach), the lively end with the swimmable beach, bars and boat trips. Lumina at Cardinal Cabo San Lucas is the best value and the one in our total. A Deluxe Studio costs $687 for 7 nights ($98 a night), plus $106 in fees at the property. It's rated 8.9 from 590 reviews and has free cancellation. Hotel Tesoro Los Cabos is $941 for the stay ($134 a night), plus $168 at the property. Its 8.2 comes from 1,524 reviews, and it has no free cancellation. Medano Hotel and Spa is $1,172 ($167 a night), plus $209 at the property. It's rated 8.8 from 759 reviews and has free cancellation. If you'd rather have galleries than bars, San José del Cabo is the quieter town.
