Late October still brings typical highs of 70–71°F and lows near 54°F, with clear skies the norm on Friday and mostly clear on Saturday. The 6:35 AM departure gets you in at 10:15 AM, so Friday is a full day on the walls and by the water. This is also the edge of the quiet season. From November many restaurants and hotels close, but the walls stay open with almost no crowds, so you get the Old Town without the summer days when several cruise ships are in port. Prices were all-in when we checked and can still change.

Apartments Lepur is the best value: a One-Bedroom Apartment in the Old Town for $167 for the 2 nights ($84 a night), rated 9.4 from 269 reviews, plus $25 paid at the property. Pearl of Adriatic has the top rating, 9.8 from 315 reviews. It offers an Apartment with Balcony and Sea View in Ploče for $340 for the stay, plus $50 at the property. Ploče sits just east of the walls and has the classic views and sea access. Bed&Breakfast Andio, also in the Old Town, is $188 for the stay ($94 a night) plus $32 at the property and is rated 8.8 from 1,095 reviews. It's the only one of the three with free cancellation. The Old Town is atmospheric but noisy and full of stairs, so pack light.
