We picked Kalani Kai#104 as the best value. It's a vacation home in Kailua-Kona at $1,250 for 7 nights ($179 a night), rated 9 from 6 reviews, and it's the stay used in the total. Kona Isle C31 is another vacation home in Kailua-Kona, at $1,522 for the stay ($217 a night). It's rated 10, but that's from only 2 reviews. Neither of those two offers free cancellation. Wyndham Mauna Loa Village, in Keauhou, Kailua-Kona, has the most reviews behind its score: 8.8 from 155. Its one-bedroom suite is $2,354 for the stay ($336 a night), with free cancellation. Kailua-Kona is a walkable seaside town with coffee shops, snorkel tours and mid-range hotels, and it's a handy base for the manta ray night snorkel. Volcano Village has rainforest B&Bs at the gate of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
