Add the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Waikiki at $1,064 for 7 nights and the trip comes to $1,872 for two before you go. Mid-November falls in big-wave surf season on the North Shore, with humpback whales offshore. The weather normals put highs at 81–82°F and lows near 73°F. They also show drizzle on most days, so pack a light rain layer for the crater hike and the memorial visit. If the stop bothers you, the nonstop we found on Alaska, operated by Hawaiian, was $894 for two and takes 6h 23m. These prices are what we found when we checked, and they can move.

Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Waikiki is the best value and the hotel in our total: $1,064 for 7 nights ($152 a night), a 3-star with a review score of 8 from 1,299 reviews, room only and no free cancellation. Oasis Hotel Waikiki is the budget pick at $1,113 ($159 a night), with 7.9 from 1,515 reviews. It's the only one of the three with free cancellation, which helps if your plans might shift. Aston Waikiki Beach Tower is the top rated, a 5-star scoring 9.3 from 774 reviews, with a One-Bedroom Suite at $4,418 ($631 a night). For quieter lagoon resorts, look at Ko Olina on the west side.
